Curry torches Spurs again, ties MJ with latest 40

Last night in San Francisco felt like vintage Stephen Curry mixed with something brand new. The Warriors superstar absolutely torched the Spurs for 49 points, dragging Golden State to a wild 109–108 comeback win that felt like a season-shifting moment.

Before the game even tipped, Curry made noise—strolling into warm-ups in a pair of Kobe 6s, a subtle nod to his new sneaker free-agency and, in his own words, “new beginnings.” Turns out he meant it.

From the opening quarter, Curry looked locked into that rare zone where every dribble, every pull-up, every off-balance flick feels inevitable. He piled up 28 points just off off-the-dribble jumpers, something he hasn’t done since 2015. And when the Warriors needed him most, he delivered again: down by one with 6.4 seconds left, Curry baited the foul, stepped to the line, and calmly buried both free throws to seal it.

The performance also tied him with Michael Jordan for the most 40-point games after turning 30—a ridiculous milestone that pretty much sums up Curry’s late-career evolution. Even at this stage, he’s still redefining what prime looks like.

What makes the night even more important is the context: the Warriors had been spiraling on the road, losers of six straight. Curry responded with back-to-back 40-point explosions, something he hadn’t done since 2022. After the game he credited Steve Kerr’s pregame message—comparing the team to a band trying to rediscover its sound—for sparking him.

Whatever the inspiration was, it worked. Curry didn’t just keep the Warriors alive—he reminded the league that he’s still capable of flipping entire games, weeks, even narratives, all by himself.

If Golden State ends up turning this season around, we’ll look back at this night as the moment the music came back on.
